People come to therapy for a variety of reasons but it usually just boils down to “my life isn’t working the way I want it to and I’m not happy.”  My role is to help you identify and get very clear about what’s not working – what exactly is getting in the way of you enjoying life more and of being more effective in getting what you want.  With my support, together we’ll begin to identify the patterns in your behavior and see how they’re affecting your life.

 

Although you and I will be working in your present, we’re all molded by our past experiences.  We’ll look back and explore the impact your childhood feelings and memories have on your life today.  Sometimes what comes up from the past is positive and works well for you; sometimes your childhood ideas of how things “should be” get in the way without you even really realizing it.

 

Realization is a huge part of what happens in therapy. We’re powerless to make any true changes without first realizing what’s up.

 

A very important benefit of therapy is the discovery that you have choices. Knowing that there are choices in what we do makes changing not only a real possibility but also an exciting and energizing one.

 

Every therapist has their own style of working with clients. In my practice I use a variety of techniques and tools depending upon the person and what we’re working on at the time. Since each client is a special and unique individual, everyone’s therapy is custom tailored to fit their individual needs, goals and temperament.
