Debra Reiss is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Board Certified Diplomat (BCD). She has over 30 years of experience practicing psychotherapy with individuals, couples, and groups.
She received a bachelor's Degree in psychology from Adelphi University and a Masters's Degree in clinical social work from Fordham University. She has experience with psychoanalysis from The Karen Horney Institute in Manhattan, NY, and advanced training in Hypnotherapy from The Milton H. Erickson Society for Psychotherapy and Hypnosis.
Debra Reiss trained at both Petersen-Krag Mental Health Clinic and Family Services Association in Huntington, NY, where she provided individual, couples, and group psychotherapy. Following these internships, she worked at North Shore/LIJ Hospital in Manhasset, NY (currently known as Northwell Health) in Drug Treatment and Education, where she provided consultations, evaluations, and outpatient individual, couples, and group psychotherapy for recovering addicts and alcoholics. She was a book reviewer for The Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment. During her time at the hospital, she also provided consultations for patients hospitalized with a broad spectrum of mental illnesses. She was an advisor for graduate students in Social Work at Adelphi University. In 1995, she left the hospital and began a Private Practice.
She keeps up-to-date with workshops on current theories and methods of treatment in areas such as anxiety, stress management, trauma, grief, addictions, aging, and psychopharmacology.
